Breach of the Malikier line-Fire and Vengeance campaign

 

Imperium Nihlis- Gorash III- the Malikier line.  The blood crusade tore up the planetary defense forces in another section of the Malikier line.  With the threat of imminent breach endangering the entire line a small Apocalypse Angels force under Librarian Gabriel attempted to halt the khornate forces advance.

The khornate horde boldly advanced toward the last defensive belt a helbrute and wardog knight spearheading the way as vox speakers on both bellowed calls for death and slaughter.  The Apocalypse Angels surged out to meet them with Vengeance burning in their hearts.  Librarian Gabriel was confident that their righteousness and rage would overwhelm the traitors as it had in the past.  As they moved to engage, none of the Apocalypse Angels paid herd to the red lightning that danced across the sky and struck an area of black bellowing smoke.  Into the cover of the smoke emerged exalted possessed champions of khorne.  Teleported behind the main imperial advance they were in position to savage the Apocalypse Angels. The heavy weapons of the Apocalypse Angels decapitated the armored vanguard of the khornate horde.  The chaos Wardog detonated in a savage mushroom cloud.  Space marines poured fire into the rushing horde when suddenly the exalted burst out of the smoke and in seconds wrecked the vindicator in their daemon guided fury.

The khornate horde came on.  Slashing blades and howling chainaxes eviscerated squad Bravo.  Meanwhile the possessed exalted slammed into Librarian Gabriel and his men.  A bitter battle ensued as each side carved into one another with desperate rage as thunder boomed over the battlefield sounding like the acclimation of Khorne.  Chaplain Gaspar led his assault marines into a mass of khornate warriors.  Slamming into them on burning jetpacks they crushed some of the warriors before both sides began hacking at one another in a frenzy of no quarter close combat.  Meanwhile khorne berserkers blew a hole in the bastion with grenades and stormed the fortification putting all to the sword before rushing out to fall upon chaplain Gaspar and his marines.

The hordes of khorne destroyed rhino beta with volleys of krak grenades that set it alight even as it blew apart a few of the berserkers.  The berserkers bellowed in triumph and ecstasy, for khorne cares not from whom the blood flows.  Gaspar boosted away in his jump pack bleeding from dozens of wounds and unable to stem the blood drenched tide.  Librarian Gabriel cut down the possessed exalted and saw the blood drenched tide of khornate warriors on foot.

Seeing the line was lost Gabriel ordered the survivors to board their rhinos and retreat.  The Malikier line was broken.  Outpacing the pursuit they fell back towards hive Sturgis to make a stand.
