What to do with a firstborn marine army
The title says it all. Pictured above is my Apocalypse Angels Space marine army I did up in 2006. It is clear GW is phasing out firstborn Marines so my choice is either to retire them or redo them as Primaris. If I was to update them I would build and play a torchbearers crusade using the crusade rules from white dwarf 466. ( You can easily look this up if you have a Warhammer+ subscription as it is included in the Warhammer vault). I would start the crusade small around 500 pts and build and paint as the crusade grows with a fully painted army by the time you finish the crusade and the torchbearers reunite the Primaris Marines with the first born chapter. Option 2 is to simply retire them. As I already created my new Primaris chapter- The Watch Knights, and had no desire to collect and paint another loyalist chapter this is the option I went with. Still I thought it would be nice to take the army out for one last spin. Let it go out in a blaze of glory. That is where I got the idea to create a annihilation crusade campaign with customized crusade rules. In future posts I will outline the rules and guidelines for running a Annihilation crusade. I will also be posting about the apocalypse angels, their narrative, stories, background, and crusade updates as they undergo a annihilation crusade campaign titled "The fire and vengeance crusade". So help me send them out to pasture in style by reading The Fire and Vengeance Crusade posts. Also feel free to leave comments and criticism on the blog, though please refrain from comments on my hobby skills from nearly 20 years ago lol.
