Gorash system catastrophe- Fire and Vengeance campaign

 

The Apocalypse Angels evacuated the moon of Gorash VI having annihilated the khornate warband there.  Unfortunately they were unable to halt the traitors dark ritual and in their attack even aided it unwittingly.  With the spilt blood of their chaplain and librarian along with the violent deaths of the khornate warband the ritual was complete.  Warp energy swelled in the moons core, channeled their by dark portals erected by the world eaters.  After the apocalypse angels were clear the moons core exploded with warp energy.  The moon detonated with most of it impacting on the gas giant Gorash VI.  However a large amount was blown out towards the Imperial hive world of Gorash III.

On Gorash III half the planet was engulfed in a deluge of debris from the destroyed moon.

The impact of the larger chunks of debris caused near nuclear level detonations, devastating half of Gorash III.  The impacts killed millions and half the world was ablaze in uncontrollable fires.  But worse was to follow.

Debris impact dust thrown up in the atmosphere contained warp fused remnants of the moon that had been infused by and made sacred by the followers of Khorne.  For a week until the dust settled those who breathed in the warp fused particles succumbed to the rage and fury of Khorne.  They turned on their fellow citizens with a fury and blood lust that created even more anarchy and angst. This then echoed in the warp acting as a beacon.

Smaller chunks of warp stone abounded planet wide. Many chaos worshipping cults gathered them up secretly.  They used them to increase their powers and for use in dark ritual rites to further draw the eye of the warp to Gorash III.  Within the month a world eaters fleet breached the materium of the solar system making for Gorash III.  The Apocalypse Angels now realized that the World Eaters aimed to turn Gorash III into a daemon world that would anchor a tendril of the great rift deeper into Imperium Nihlis destroying several other systems in the process.  This was a apocalypse and it was the preordained purpose of the chapter to be here.  In their quest for fire and vengeance they would thwart the great power of chaos as well.  Even if it meant the sacrifice of them all.
