Zealots were a common feature accompanying imperial forces. Their zeal and fanaticism were often infectious and so imperial high command considered them a benefit. In battle they were a vicious force against all the unclean. Their zeal also saw them making unwise and unconsidered assaults that resulted in high casualties with little gain.
