Shard of Tartarus Space Hulk

 The Alpha Legion made great use of a Spacehulk known as the Shard of Tartarus during the Stygian Wars.  Originally claimed by the Alpha Legion as a ark of omen, after completing their pact with Vashtor the Alpha Legion turned it into their flagship in the Stygian Empire.

The spacehulk was heavily warp haunted with these warp spirits preying upon the crew at times.  They were grudgingly tolerated given the way they would flock and attack any hostile boarders giving it a unique tactical advantage.  These warp spirits were also useful for powering rituals held aboard and in the works of the dark mechanicus.

Further weapons such as the mechanicus spawn added to the Shard of Tartarus's offensive and defensive capabilities.

Finally the decision was made to turn the Shard of Tartarus into a primarily carrier weapon platform.  This saw increasing hanger bays and heldrake roots added to the ship.

This was however only the beginning of the changes that would be made to this Spacehulk as the Stygian Wars continued.
