Imperium Nihlis- Gorash III- Hive Sturgis. The guns of the spacehulk blood storm pounded the hive void shields. Here and there a shield would fail and explosions rocked the hive. In the burning hab sprawl the chanting of the khornate horde thundered out. The Apocalypse Angels had failed to silence the guns on the Blood Storm. Now they would attempt to defend the hive gates. But Captain Dravin had a plan to surprise the heretic blood worshipers this day.
Rather than await the khornate forces assault the Apocalypse Angels launched a Sally out the hive gate catching the horde only partially formed up and surprised. Fire riddled the khornate horde even as chaplain Gaspar led assault marines into a leading daemon engine inflicting horrendous damage.
The khornate horde thundered forward led by the daemon prince Kurgan the cruel. Khornate infantry hurled themselves at the vindicators hacking at the armor. But hack as they would they were unable to damage the war machines of the Apocalypse Angels. Their remaining daemon engine was brought down by the dreadnought Ezekiel who ripped the warp twisted heart out of the machine.
The vindicators fired point blank into the assaulting infantry blasting them apart. Apocalypse Angels dismounted from rhino and razorback transports to unleash torrents of fire into the surging horde. In seconds a vicious melee raged the length of the battlefield. Exalted eightbound teleported in to assault a vindicator but were unable to destroy it. Meanwhile Captain Dravin faced off against Kurgan the cruel. The ancient relic blade of the Apocalypse Angels shone white with holy flame. It pierced the daemon prince. The holy fire of the blade banishing the howling warp monster from the material world.
With the banishment of Kurgan the cruel the Khornate horde faltered. They each felt a loss of vitality and they hesitated. The Apocalypse Angels fell upon them in that moment cutting them down in righteous fury. The screams of the horde took on a new tone, fear. The wrath of the emperor came for them in the form of the Apocalypse Angels. A heldrake arrived on the battlefield pouring fire into the Apocalypse Angels in an effort to cover the routing of the horde.
The flying daemon engine managed to destroy a rhino that had been persuing the khornate horde. With that the Apocalypse Angels halted their persuing of the heretics and a silence descended on the battlefield. The gates of Hive Sturgis stood and the hive was safe for now.
