Vashin subhive, vergas prime- a death guard splinter force emerged from the warp and attacked Vargas prime. Imperial navy forces drove off the death guard fleet and blockaded the planet. Death guard forces were low on supplies and concentrated in the vashin subhive. Imperial forces learned that asteroids plunging towards the hive were secretly containing vital supplies for the death guard. Furthermore it was rumored that a unsanctioned WMD was being smuggled to the death guard via the asteroids. Imperial high command ordered an offensive to overrun the death guard before they could be resupplied.
