Socratis

 

Socratis the sorcerer originally was a member of the thousand sons legion.  He aided Ahriman in the creation of the rubric and was subsequently banished.  Unlike Ahriman he did not view the rubric as a failure but instead as a partial success.  The concepts of unlife revealed by the rubric fascinated him.  As an exile he sold his services to various warbands in exchange for power, artifacts, and the continuation of his experiments.  He eventually joined the Black Legion and began rising in prominence leading his own force of Black Legionnaires and beastmen tribes.  He eventually annoyed Abbadon and was dispatched to link up with another Black Legion commander and sorcerer named Grimm.  Socratis was meant to both serve Grimm and act as a check on his rising power.  Socratis resents the assignment but is determined to use Grimm to further his own ambitions.  He is loyal to Grimm for now and will continue to be so until he has unraveled every secret and ability that Grimm possess.  After that it remains to be seen if Socratis will attempt to suplant Grimm or simply have him killed.
