Grimm omens campaign modeling 1

 

Travis is starting and expanding his Black Legion Army.  He has a number of units but his selection is limited as he has only been doing black Legion less than a year.  His Warlod is a master of possession who is in some ways like an evil necromancer/sorceror from D&D.  a while back while listening to the Independent Characters Podcast I was given the idea for a new modeling project.  Adan was talking about a player whose cultists were all nighthuant models representing the ripped out souls of the sorceror's slain made to serve him,  I thought about turning captured guardsmen into possessed slaves with Nighthuants modeled on the base.  I had a box of old Catachans and some nighthuant.  My friend Josh Zakerski was kind enough to supply me with more.  I do not need 20 traitor guard possessed when 10 would work for me.  along comes Travis and his army with it's theme.  He didn't have any traitor guard and wasn't even thinking about them.  So I desided to build and paint up 10 possessed Black Legion traitor guard and gift them to him.  as a much older player (Start of 3rd edition) I feel it is the responsibility of veteran players to support and encourage new players if this Hobby is to have a healthy future.  so I did up the traitor Guard squad.  Travis has been using the green of the nighthuants to represent warp energy on his other black legion models so that determined the color of the ghosts.  I also used a green for the eyes with it spilling out to show the guardsmen were possessed and controled by the spirits amongst them.  Essentially running them like puppets similar to how Samus controlled Jubal in the book Horus Rising.  I went with red under tunics and scraps of clothe similar to the black legion.  For the trousers and flack jackets I didn't go with black like the black Legion instead going with incubi darkness allowing me to show a blend of Catachan and Black Legion.  My personal favorite model is the WITNESS ME!!!! model running with a grenade and suicide vest.  and so here below are Travis's new Traitor guardsmen.
