Harrowstorm Project- initial build
Alright time to plan the initial army so I know what to build and paint. I already have a paint scheme to match my Alpha Legion. Although I plan to add warp lightning marks on the Knights to go along with the freak storms and warp phenomenon that accompanies them into battle. Really excited for the dark mechanicus and idolators I will be using as cultists to accompany the Knights. And of course as sacrifices to power them up. I came up with an initial 2k army, that can stand on it's own or be broken down into chunks that I can use as is or as allies with my Alpha Legion.
So here is the initial army to build to. Bad news it's a lot of models. Good news it's a lot of modeling opportunities to create my accompanying dark mechanicus. The army itself will operate as follows. The despoiler with profane alter will operate as a mobile fire support platform getting both sustained and lethal hits with it's dark pacts. The firebrand and 20 strong cultist band will accompany it acting as a battery and a screen. Everything else will be acting in a offensive full court press. The desecrator will be targeting the biggest threat while his pave the way enhancement will give all 3 10 man cultists units scout moves so they can keep up with the advance and seize mid field objectives making them sticky and accompanying the war dogs as they push through. The war dogs are pure aggression firing and assaulting wherever possible and advancing on. The stalkers will be blasting infantry and assault anything. Meanwhile the huntsman will be blasting vehicles and elite tough infantry the assault anything. The traitor guard will provide fire support, camp on objectives and perform actions. I could have gone with more cultists but went with guard for special project reasons. Given the Knights and dark mechanicus must scavenge for supplies I wanted to represent that. I wanted the traitor guard to be scavengers, that when the fighting is over would strip the battlefield for scrap and tech. The ash waste nomads from Necromunda fit the bill perfectly. They look cool, menacing, mysterious, and convey the scavenger vibe. They can easily be converted to look like nomads were organized into a fighting force. Now for the fun of building and painting. Let me know what you think of the planned army so far.
