With the opening of warp rifts across the galaxy sudden daemonic incursions happened with great frequency.  In the area by the Stygian empire seven planets were swallowed by a massive rift.  a nearby mining asteroid was overrun by a daemonic incursion that plunged the colony into death and terror.
