The Crimson Dragon Offensive

 

The massive Stygian and Alpha Legion offensive known as the Crimson Dragon offensive was launched across the entire Stygian sector.  The offensive followed the fall of Fleet Quartus to the murder curse of Angron.  It was a hastily organized offensive that took full advantage of the chaos and devastation the khornate warbands inflicted across the Stygian and surroundings sectors drawing imperial forces away from the Stygian empire.  

With the Imperium pulling forces away and shifting from an offensive to a defensive posture its position on the empire’s frontier was unbalanced.  Using existing contingency plans as the bedrock the Alpha Legion prepared their offensive and we’re able to launch it within three months.  The attacks were no mere strike and fade operations but focused instead on conquest of the rest of the sector.

The opening days were devastating as four imperial worlds fell to the Stygian Empire in the first 72 hours of the offensive.  These assaults were aided by cult uprisings and other 5th column actions.  Three other imperial worlds were hard pressed begging for aid and reinforcements even as portions of the population were evacuated creating a refugee crisis for the rest of the imperial worlds in the Stygian sector.

Hidden amongst the refugees were agents of the Alpha Legion and the Stygian Empire.  They would infiltrate ahead of the main offensive sowing seeds of discord and destruction to be capitalized on.  The Stygian Wars were now raging hotter than ever.
