Alpha legion agents identified experiments on Geller field generators as a threat to the stygian empire and the dark mechanicus. The alpha legion then infiltrated a strike force of stygian and dark mechanicus forces to research outpost 76zbx. Achieving complete surprise they wiped out the mechanicus forces and destroyed the facility along with all the research that had been done to date.
