The creation of House Harrowstorm came about during the early days of the Stygian Empire.  The Alpha Legion and Stygian forces has been largely successful in their military campaigns.  Still Lord magwar wanted to create a new force with which to deploy on the battlefield.  Lord Magwar wanted a force capable of inflicting devastation and terror within seconds of it's deployment.  A veritable sledge hammer to the Alpha Legion razor.  A knight army would  be the perfect shock attack force to fulfill this tactical goal.  Lord Magwar ordered the creation of such a force and tasked the undertaking to warpsmith Rycor.  Warpsmith Rycor of the Alpha Legion began soliciting members of the dark mechanicus interested in such a venture and recruited them to be the head Magi of the new chaos knight house he would create.  A number of captured and destroyed imperial knights were turned over to these dark Magi for rebuilding and reconsecration.  Warpsmigh Rycor began to recruit efforts at renegade knights and freeblades for the new house.  The Dark magi rebuilding the knights began using a psychokinetic crystal in the frame and patchwork of the knights.  These crushed crystals had the ability to store and amplify warp energy.  The Dark Magi figured out how to use this to create and amplify warp storm clouds to accompany the knights when they went into battle.  These storms the Alpha legion dubbed harrowstorms and thus created the name of the new Chaos Knight House.  As House Harrowstorm took shape various sub cults of the Dark Mechanicus pledged themselves to it's banners.  Negavolt cults along with a cult of the steel serpents providing infantry support.  Other cults like the Dread magi also provided infantry support as well as engineering and technical support.  Lord Magwar was able to raise a regimental sized regular guard force made up of nomadic tech scavengers and heretechs that were then pledged to House Harrowstorm.  This force would not only provide infantry support but scavenge needed parts and materials from the destroyed imperial units the house engaged.  The self sustaining new House Harrowstorm pledged fealty first to Lord Magwar and the Alpha Legion and then to the Stygian Empire before it was unleashed into the Stygian Wars.
