SHARD OF TARTARUS- Dark Mechanicus and Alpha Legion Warpsmiths set up an additional power relay to power additional void shields added to the ark of Omen. The mutant slave presence is to both operate the machinery and defend it from boarding parties. The mutants were both expendable labor and still a formidable security force. In addition to their use as labor and defending against boarding parties they were expendable prey for the various warp entities haunting the Shard of Tartarus.
