Accursed cultists

 

With the opening of the great rift near the Stygian sector incidents of mutation soared.  The influence of the warp became stronger in the Stygian Empire.  Mutants had long been used by both the Stygian Empire and their Alpha Legion masters as Bolter fodder.  This began to change with temples created on Stygian outposts basking in the glow of the great rift.  The most notable of these temples being the Stygian ziggernaut on the Attian moon.  Here mutants worshipped under guidance of Alpha Legion possessed legionaries and masters of possession.  At these temples the most fervent mutants became daemonic hosts known as torments.  The torments added a shock element to the cults attacks against the Imperium and helped to further plunge imperial morale.  Thus mobs of accursed cultists became more common on the battlefields of the Stygian wars.
