As the watch knights chapter took casualties in the Stygian wars the redemptor dreadnaught began to be deployed. Critically injured knights were interned within these devastating war machines to continue to fight. These dreadnoughts spearheaded watch knight assaults as well as bolstering imperial defensive strongpoints. Many imperial guard regiment rallied in defense points around these war machines during the Stygian wars.
