mutant irregulars

throughout the Stygian Wars bands of mutants would take up arms in the cause of the Stygian Empire.  Bound by no known force structure these irregular bands of mutant were often used for raiding operations when they where not simply used as cannon fodder.  While ill disciplined and prone to desertion they could be effective in a raiding capacity which saw them facing far weaker and less numerous opponents.
