Operation Arjax finale

 

Operation Arjax- Shard of Tartarus- Operation Conclusion.  With the three phase sweep clearing out numerous additional sections of the space hulk Lord Magwar halted the operation and ordered the newly cleared areas fortified.  Of the three Stygian regiments that had participated in Operation Arjax only 1 regiment and a lone reinforced battalion survived.  These were then sent on as reinforcements to the main front of the Stygian Wars.  Lord Magwar was pleased and then began the implementation of the goal that Operation Arjax made possible.

Lord Magwar unleashed the heretech scavengers and allied contingents of the Dark Mechanicum on the newly conquered spaces.  Over a third of the newly captured areas was to be set up for munitions manufacture.  One third was to be turned into munition storage facilities.  The remaining third was to be given over to the Dark Mechanicum as a reward for service to be used in experimental and personal workshops where they would be free to tinker and bring to life the mad designs from their dreams.  The creation of a munitions plants that needed only raw material would help keep the Alpha Legion independent from any single source of supply.  It would also mean the forces aboard the Shard of Tartarus would be extremely well armed.  This would make the Shard of Tartarus a powerful assault vessel in addition to it's role as a carrier vessel.  Each role would complement the other.  Well armed troops could launch in boarding craft to complement the carrier aspect of the space hulk.  While the heldrakes, hellblades, and Helltalons would provide substantial outer and inner atmosphere air cover for a planetary assault/ landing force.  Some of Lord Magwar's Lts had argued into turning the Shard of Tartarus into a massive orbital fort and fleet resupply and repair facility.  That would have given up too much striking power and the flexibility that came with mobility for him to agree to such an undertaking.  Lord Magwar had a vision for what the Shard of Tartarus would become.  With Operation Arjax completed he could now consolidate his gains and begin the necessary implementations before he launched another operation.  He would eventually open up and claim more of the space hulk.  Then he would add more generators and power matrixes to enhance the Shard of Tartarus and power the numerous teleport pads he planned on installing to enable a mass teleport attack. This complimenting the landing and breaching forces from the Shard of Tartarus.
